Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney sounded off on Monday night when asked about potential staff changes for the Tigers.
During his weekly call-in program, Swinney fielded a question from a fan about if the team is considering making changes to the staff because of Clemson’s underperforming passing attack.
Swinney, not one to hold his tongue, gave a very passionate answer to the fan in question.
“Well, that’s what I get paid to do,” Swinney said on the program (via on3). “All I can tell you is I’m gonna do my job. And if it comes a time where people don’t like how I do my job, then they can hire somebody else.
“But until then I ain’t ever gonna make decisions based on what other people want me to do. I can tell you that. If I did that, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you tonight.”
But wait, there’s more!
Dabo Swinney was asked if it's time for staff changes after "two years without a passing game" during his call-in show tonight.

While he conceded the team has improvements to make, Swinney righly touched on the fact that the team is 10-2, and that it’s impossible to get into one of the four coveted College Football Playoff spots every year.
“If that’s the mindset of Clemson, there will be a new head coach here, and there will be a new staff every year,” Swinney continued. “And we’ll be a very mediocre, inconsistent program. That’s how I look at it.”
Swinney’s full response was more nuanced than his Tennessee hot take last week. However, he’s clearly feeling the heat from a fan base that expects to have a championship to look forward to every year.
It’s a silly desire of any fanbase and at least this time, Swinney was right to temper expectations, but he might want to avoid talking about him losing his gig. Barring trouble never gets anyone anywhere in college football.
