NAGPUR: D Gukesh brushed aside the despair of the earlier round loss and in an all-Indian matchup, leapfrogged Vidit Gujrathi to regain the lead with two-time challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi. Nepo, for his part, was held to a draw by the lowest seed, Nijat Abasov in the Candidates Chess tournament in Toronto’s Great Hall on Saturday.
The eighth round of the 17-day tournament brought some exciting results where the standings were changed significantly in both the open and women’s sections.
