Two deaths, both reported earlier in Michigan, remain unchanged, and the CDC outbreak page still shows an open investigation.
The practical meaning has shifted since the summer. The implicated product is long past its best-by dates and is no longer in stores or restaurants, so this is not a shopping alert. It is a testing alert. Another 528 illnesses were added in a single week, and most of them began before the July 17 recall, which means the number is still catching up to infections that happened weeks ago.
