A cyclist was taken to hospital after a collision between a bike and a car on a major Tyneside road.
Emergency services were called to the Felling Bypass, in Gateshead, at around 9.45am on Bank Holiday Monday. The cyclist was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Pictures from the scene show police and paramedics at the scene near the Jet Garage. One lane on the Felling Bypass was blocked while emergency services treated the injured man.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At around 9.45am on Monday police were alerted by the ambulance service to a collision involving a car and a pedal bike on the Felling Bypass in Gateshead.
“Emergency services attended the scene and a man in his 60s who was on the pedal bike was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One lane was blocked westbound until the road could be cleared."
