A keen cyclist said he may never get on a bike again after he was hospitalised following a crash in a 'lawless' part of the city.
Stephen O'Connor was thrown violently from his bike while cycling home along West Derby Road in April. He had to brake suddenly to avoid a man walking in the cycle lane, who he had been unable to see because of cars parked all around it.
Stephen, 48, who works in security in the city centre, was left covered in blood with cuts to his face, his cycle helmet was cracked down the middle and he ended up in hospital with other injuries. Having cycled to and from work for a decade, Stephen said he is unlikely to get on a bike again unless things change drastically in terms of road safety for cyclists in Liverpool.
