Cycling transfers – All the latest news and announcements for the 2025 season

Julian Alaphilippe and Pauline Ferrand Prevot are two key riders making a big switch in 2025.

One of cycling's most important blocks of the season is well underway. The transfer window opened on August 1, 2024, and new rider-team contracts that begin on January 1, 2025, will be confirmed.

Cyclingnews is tracking all movements during the transfer season—everything from contract renewals to extensions to retirements—with our dedicated transfer index.

We'll update this page through the rest of the year with every confirmed signing for 2025, building a team-by-team list of ins and outs, while also tracking the latest transfer news from the professional cycling peloton.

The 2024-2025 market

There have already been a number of important announcements and signings for the 2025 season, and perhaps a couple of the biggest are former world champion Anna van der Breggen's decision to come out of retirement and return to racing with SD Worx-Protime and reigning mountain bike World and Olympic champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot set to retire from mountain biking and return to road racing in 2025.

On the men's side, Julian Alaphilippe's departure from Soudal-Quickstep has been a major talking point, culminating in his move to Tudor Pro Cycling to complement the signing of Marc Hirschi.

With the off-season now in full swing, it's likely that transfer speculation and negotiations will continue to escalate.

Riders and teams in the women's and men's peloton are expected to sign new contracts, extend current contracts, or transfer to known teams. There was much speculation around a rumoured €1 million contract for former Tour de France champion Demi Vollering with a new team but she confirmed signing with FDJ-SUEZ, while Elisa Longo Borghini has also moved on to UAE ADQ

Cyclingnews highlighted contracts in the men's peloton that are believed to be driving the 2025 transfer market, including the long-term futures of Remco Evenepoel, Tadej Pogačar, Tom Pidcock and Julian Alaphilippe.

Confirmed transfers and signings announced on August 1 included Ben O'Connor's shift from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale to Jayco-AlUla, while other big names such as Jhonatan Narváez will leave Ineos at the end of this season to join UAE Team Emirates and Simon Yates will head to Visma-Lease a Bike.

Riders still without a contract

While many of the big transfers and key contract extensions have been announced, several riders are still without an announced place for 2025.

This can be due to some teams choosing not to announce the length of contracts, opting not to confirm their rosters until the last minute or because certain riders are simply not having their contracts renewed.

Several women's teams typically announce their rosters and contract extensions late, such as Roland, where former Olympic champion Anna Kiesenhofer rode last year, who will likely announce a full squad in the coming weeks.

Among the biggest names technically without an announced contract are former Il Lombardia winner Esteban Chaves and three of his EF-Education EasyPost teammates - James Shaw, Stefan De Bod and Jefferson Alexander Cepeda.

With the American team's current roster for 2025 already at 27 riders, one of them will miss out on selection for the coming year.

While older riders such as Nairo Quintana and Fernando Gaviria have extended for another year at Movistar, 38-year-old Ben Hermans is yet to extend his time at Cofidis after one season on the French squad.

Veteran sprinter Elia Viviani is among the highest-ranked riders also yet to be announced as extending with Ineos Grenadiers or heading elsewhere for 2025.

As the off-season winds to a close and teams head to training camp in December, expect many of these as yet unresolved contract questions to be answered and full 30-man rosters to be confirmed.
