Cycling in snow and ice: how to stay safe and have fun

Winter wonderland has, for us in the UK at least, come late this year. With train cancellations and shut schools galore here at home, the snow-lined streets of our Belgian neighbour played host to one of the most memorable cyclo-cross races in recent history, as Mathieu van der Poel and Wout Van Aert battled it out through swirling snow clouds at the Exact Cross race last Friday.

The race may have had you chomping at the bit for some of your own rough-weather riding. Snowy rides, after all, can be very memorable – and not just for falling off constantly. After all, what better than heading out into such a magical landscape?
