Cyberpunk 2077’s major expansion Phantom Liberty releases in 2023

During the latest Night City Wire livestream, we finally saw Cyberpunk 2077‘s first major expansion — better known as Phantom Liberty. Also, there’s an all-new trailer and some platform information too.

On Tuesday, CD Projekt Red announced Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will release in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That’s right, the Xbox One, PS4, and Google Stadia versions are seemingly not getting this expansion. No doubt because those last-generation ports were technical nightmares. The new Edgerunners Update, which comes out today, will be the final patch for those consoles. Afterward, only current-generation consoles and PC are getting updates.

As for the actual content, Phantom Liberty is described as a spy-thriller that’ll take place within a new sector of Night City. The trailer has protagonist V being sworn into a secretive government agency. Check it out for yourself below.

Keanu Reeves is returning to his role as Johnny Silverhand for this DLC. To what extent is anybody’s guess, but there were rumors that the actor wouldn’t have much involvement.

Aside from the narrative add-on, CD Projekt Red is also revamping the combat and police systems in Cyberpunk 2077. We don’t know to what extent, but it’s good that those (often buggy) systems are getting overhauled.
