Cyber security firm gets £2 million backing for Scottish expansion

Adarma has been awarded a £2m grant from Scottish Enterprise to further invest in people, creating more than 50 cyber security roles.

The UK’s largest independent cyber threat management company also plans to use the funding to expand its suite of services and intellectual property assets.

In particular, the investment will accelerate the development of Adarma’s security operations and threat management platform, which aims to enable security teams to increase the speed and accuracy of their detection and response to advanced threats, at scale.

The company intends to create an inclusive career entry point for young people from diverse academic backgrounds into the cyber security sector. By accelerating the competency of entry-level security analysts and security operations teams, Adarma aim to recruit form a wider pool of talent.

“We are delighted that Scottish Enterprise has entrusted us with such a substantial grant as it will no doubt accelerate our mission to protect the promise of cyber resilience for our customers,” said John Maynard, chief executive at Adarma.

“The evolution of our platform will provide security operations teams with a single view of security performance across the organisation and allow security leaders to consolidate their technology stack and optimise performance, a critical requirement in the current financial climate.”

Business Minister Ivan McKee said: “I congratulate Adarma on winning substantial Scottish Enterprise funding, which will help create more than 50 highly-skilled roles and could make us all safer from cyber threats.

“The Scottish Government supports these plans to increase diversity through recruitment of entry level staff from a wider pool of talent, which will help support our objectives to transform the economy.

“Adarma is an Edinburgh-based company which is helping deliver solutions to one of the greatest challenges facing business today and I congratulate them on driving innovation in Scotland and beyond.”

Jane Martin, managing director of innovation and investment at Scottish Enterprise, added: “Adarma has impressed us with its desire to invest in and grow its business, with this latest round of support helping develop and expand its portfolio of products, create jobs and keep it and its customers several steps ahead of cyber criminals.”
