As Edinburgh DogsTrust works hard to find new affectionate homes for desperate dogs in need of one, new pups are always coming into their care, requiring help.
Registered with the trust's West Calder rehoming centre, there are currently 41 dogs needing a new forever home - living on site or with foster carers.
Below are just five of DogsTrust's wards in need of rehoming this February, each hopeful to move into their new forever homes in time for long spring walks.

Sunny
Ten-year-old Sunny is a Papillon cross. For him, it takes a while to trust a person, but once he does, he is sweet and adorable. He walks well on a lead and can become a splendid companion on short or long walks, where he can explore the great outdoors.
Sunny, however, gets unsettled around men, and his ideal new home would be a female and adult-only household. Sunny's new owner will need an experience with nervous dogs to ensure a trusting bond.

Jerome
Jerome is an 8-year-old French Bulldog who adores attention and cuddles. He loved travelling in a car but is the one who "much prefers the journey over the destination".
Preferring to be the only pet in his new home, Jerome may require ongoing pain relief in his later years and is hoping to find a family prepared to offer him support and love when he needs it the most.

Bertie
Bertie, who is ten years old, is a true adventurer and enjoys walking in the woods, hills or meadows. He loves playing and is an expert at the catch. However, he is not fond of being petted - and the new family will need to respect that.
Bertie came into the centre as a stray and is a very independent boy who needs time before he trusts new people and would much prefer to stroll in quiet dog-free areas.

Layla
Happy to live in a home with children aged ten and above, Layla is a one-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. She is a lovely and affectionate girl who loves getting a cuddle and feels good being around people.
Layla is full of energy - she loves playing, learning new tricks in exchange for some tasty treats and going on journeys in a car. Layla is "looking for a new family that can build her confidence and bring her out of her shell."

Lenny
Seeking to be the only pet in an adult-only home, Lenny is a six-year-old Shih Tzu cross, who needs time and space when meeting new people but will happily become one's best friend when fully acquainted.
Despite preferring a quieter and calmer home, Lenny knows how to have fun and will gladly partake in playful activities, catching bouncy balls or chasing around a soft toy.
