A furious shopper was left 'disgusted' after unpacking his shopping onto a conveyor belt only for the check-out operator to say "sorry, my shift has ended" and leave.
Scott, from Bathurst in Australia, visited the supermarket chain Coles to do his weekly shop along with his eight-month old baby.
He had spent over an hour picking the items to go into his trolley and eventually went to the check-out to pay for his items.
Scott unloaded the groceries onto the conveyor belt and stood behind the two other customers with their trolleys and waited.
But when it was his turn to have his items scanned through he was told by the check-out operator 'Sorry, my shift has ended' as the worker abruptly left.
Scott then waited for the next supermarket worker to replace the vacant chair but, after waiting some time, no one appeared.
He was ready to ditch his items and go elsewhere if another employee didn't come quickly but eventually another Coles worker came to his rescue.
However, Scott was told to reload his groceries back into the trolley - as he was forced to line up at a different check-out.
But after being unhappy at having to repack his items all over again, he had a brief argument with staff.
He then stormed out and left his trolley which was filled with lots of items such as meat.
He told DailyMail.com : "'(I was) furious driving home. I rang the store to make a complaint to the manager, who wasn't there."
Scott then spoke to the assistant manager 'who didn't care and wasn't interested' as he admitted the whole ordeal made him feel hugely disappointed 'Disgusted is an understatement.'
After the dad posted his fury onto Facebook criticisng the customer service in Australia many shoppers were quick to support Scott.
One user said: "That is just so disgraceful. There is no customer service any more, but it's not just Coles, it's the bloody lot of them."
Another added: "'Yep. Disgraceful. No customer service anymore. Glad you walked out."
And a previous employee of the supermarket admitted: 'That's terrible….when I worked for Coles it didn't matter if a shift was finishing, the staff had to serve the customer that was waiting and stay until the next shift started."
Coles responded to Scott and wrote: "We're disappointed to hear this, as we expect our team members to be helpful and courteous to our customers at all times, and we're sorry this wasn't your experience.""
"We've now passed this info onto our Store and Regional Managers to follow up with the team in question, and to remind them of our expectations.
"We trust that you'll notice an improvement moving forward and hope to see you back in store soon."
