Saints striker Curtis Main hopes he and the club can "work something out" to see him extend his stay in Paisley.
The bustling forward was the main man again in St Mirren's impressive 2-2 draw wirth Celtic on Saturday, bagging a brace while also smacking the post with a fierce drive and also nodding just inches wide.
With the 30-year-old's contract set to expire at the end of the season, the ex-Aberdeen and Motherwell man's future remains uncertain.
But Main insists he's open to staying at the club if they can agree terms on a new deal because he loves the group he's worked wonders with this season.
When asked if it would be hard to leave the club this summer, Main told Renfrewshire Live Sport: "If that’s what happens then yeah, it will be disappointing.
"It’s a great group of lads, the staff as well. Everything around the place is really enjoyable. I’ve enjoyed my time here. Hopefully we can try to work something out.
“Me and the manager are speaking now. We’ve got two huge games coming up and I don’t want it to be at the forefront of anyone’s mind at the minute as we have to concentrate on those with such a huge prize on the line.
"It comes from the club as well. I’ve said how much I’ve enjoyed it here and working for the manager. It’s a great group of lads.
"If there’s something we can work out then I’d be open to that, that would be great. But these next two games have my full focus. After that, maybe we can sit down and get something sorted.”
St Mirren's impressive draw with Celtic gave their hopes of European football a big boost, particularly ahead of a tricky second consecutive away trip this Wednesday night - this time to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
Main wishes he'd been able to bag a rare hat-trick at Celtic Park, with a missed header just clearing the post.
Main said: "I had the same conversation with the manager and I said ‘nobody comes here and scores a hat-trick’. So I’m obviously a bit frustrated with that, having good chances as well in the second half.
"But overall I have to be pleased. We came here and dominated the game at times and came away with a point. It was a very good afternoon.
“The first header is the one. I get over the ball really well and try to keep it down and just see it glance past the post. It’s one of them you just think, ‘if only it was six inches the other side’.
"But it’s part of the game, part of football. You’re going to miss chances and then you have to reset and try to score the next one. That’s part of the job and you just keep trying to put the ball in the back of the net.”
Wherever Main is playing his football next season, he's determined to bring European action to the SMiSA Stadium - a venue he describes as a "fortress".
He added: “I’ve enjoyed my season, I’ve been playing really well and I want to finish it on a real high. If we can finish in a European spot that would be brilliant.
"That would be fantastic for everybody, coming back next season and having European nights at our home that’s been a fortress for us all season.
"That would be quality. Let’s see what happens.”
