Curtis Jones injury explained
Curtis Jones has opened up on his injury problems of the past year and admits he has 'a point to prove' at Liverpool after defeat at Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old - who missed two months of football with a 'freak eye injury' last season - made his first start since May after picking up what Jurgen Klopp has often called a 'stress reaction' in the latter stages of the Community Shield win over Manchester City.

"It was a stress response," Jones said after the final whistle at the City Ground. "It was basically swelling in the bone. But if you carry on with it, it can go to a fracture and then a break. It was the first time I’d had anything like that, to be honest. Touch wood this doesn’t change, but I’m a kid who never gets injured. I don’t pull hamstrings, quads, calves, stuff like that.
"When I’ve been injured, it’s been like a freak one. I was poked in the eye last season and out for six weeks, and this season I had a stress response in the bone. I was out for four weeks, I came back and trained twice, felt it again and was out for another six. It was a difficult time, but now I’m back I’m happy and I have a point to prove."
Henderson situation questioned
Paul Scholes has questioned Klopp's decision not to start Jordan Henderson in recent Premier League games - insisting the Liverpool captain elevates the performances of those around him.
Henderson was named on the substitutes' bench for Saturday's 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in a game where Liverpool lacked cohesion and discipline in the middle of the park. The Liverpool captain was introduced alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold after 62 minutes as Klopp tried - and failed - to wrestle the contest back in the favour of his side.
Speaking on MatchDay Extra, Scholes said: “He has Jordan Henderson on the bench, he should be playing. He is the leader of the team. He’s the captain and the one, the Casemiro type of role, and he gets everyone ticking around.
“He seems to have fallen out with him or carrying an injury. There is something not quite right there.”
