Lisa started her photography adventure in 2012 when she moved from Germany to Michigan. Amazed by the diverse wildlife in her new surroundings, she began feeding the animals and capturing photos of them. Lisa wanted to share these images with her family back in Germany, as many of the species were unlike what she was used to seeing in the city.
"I've come to know my adopted home of America, especially Michigan, so much better," Lisa said, reflecting on her years of photographing birds. "There’s such a wide variety here that there's always something new to discover."

"I am not hunting for exotics, I try to find the beauty in every day,” Lisa shared with Bored Panda.
Before long, the birds started raising their young, with her feeder becoming a key spot for the fledglings to grow up. “Birds do come back—I can tell them apart by their markings," Lisa continued.

When discussing the birds that return, Lisa mentioned her deep affection for eastern bluebirds. She believes part of her fascination with them comes from watching them raise their babies in a nest box she built, complete with a camera inside. "You do get attached when you see all the things happening there."
