Half Yours will carry the weight of a nation as the only Australian-bred galloper in the $10 million Melbourne Cup as star jockey Jamie Melham chases her slice of history on the five-year-old.

Melham's mount was overtaken as favourite after a flood of money on Monday for Al Riffa, including a $500,000 bet at the Call of the Card function which helped force the Irish raider into $7, ahead of Half Yours at $7.50.
