Liverpool Council has devised a plan to stop selfish pavement parking in 'one of the worst and most high profile' hotspots in the city.
The ECHO has been reporting for years on the issue of cars being parked on the pavement of The Strand in the city centre. Vehicles can regularly be seen lining the pavement area outside the Heavenly Desserts restaurant.
Last summer, a remarkable video showed what appeared to be an organised meet-up as a huge number of vehicles were parked on the pavement in the area. Footage showed several drivers had their doors open and loud music could be heard coming from one of the vehicles, while another image showed at least nine cars parked illegally on the pavement, in front of Heavenly Desserts.

It is an issue that city centre councillor Nick Small has been highlighting for several years now. He has now confirmed that the council has agreed to take some creative action to combat the problem.
A tweet from the City Centre North Labour account, posted this morning stated that the council's head of highways has confirmed that new planters will soon be put in place on The Strand to stop illegal parking outside Heavenly Desserts. The tweet added: "This is excellent news and something we have been campaigning for."
Speaking to the ECHO, Cllr Small added: "I'm really pleased this is happening. This has been one of the worst and most high profile hotspots for anti-social and illegal parking in the city.
"What's been happening makes it more difficult for pedestrians especially people with mobility issues or with prams to get around. Parking Services have stepped up enforcement and are doing their best, but this should help design out the problem and will green up the area too."
