A major evacuation has been carried out in Cumbernauld over fears of a suspected gas leak after locals reported a 'smell' across the town.
The alarm was raised on Monday morning after residents reported a 'strong smell of gas' around their homes. Concerns were also raised by locals in Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs.
Fire crews and gas engineers rushed to 'various areas' to try and find the source of the possible leak including at Wardpark Industrial Estate where they are carrying out investigations.
