Firefighters have been called to a Co Down train station after a passenger fell between the train and platform.

A number of NIFRS personnel were deployed to the halt in Cultra on Tuesday afternoon after the man ended up down on the tracks.

An image from the scene shows the firefighters working to get the man free from the narrow gap as a number of concerned onlookers stand nearby.

The incident happened on the Lanyon to Bangor 4.15pm service. Translink tweeted that “Due to an incident on the #Bangor line, services are currently suspended until further notice”.

However, they later added that “The #Bangor line has reopened. Please allow for knock on disruption for sometime while services return to normal”.

It is understood the delay lasted for around 45 minutes. One witness said firefighters managed to free the man and that an ambulance was called. It is understood he was not seriously injured.
