Hundreds of riders on the Brown and Purple Line were evacuated along a catwalk over the Chicago River when their train lost power at Wells and Wacker Tuesday evening.
No injuries were reported, but the Chicago Fire Department tweeted that “some are nervous about catwalk over the river but firefighters are spread out to reassure them.”
The riders were on a Purple Line Express train when the tracks lost power near the Merchandise Mart. Service on the line was stopped between Armitage and the Loop and shuttle buses were used, according to the CTA.
Service was restored by around 10:15 p.m., the CTA said.
