CS2 player MAUschine receives 10-year ban for hitting opponent on stage during live tournament

A Counter-Strike 2 player and German streamer known as MAUschine has been handed a 10-year ban from DACH CS Masters after punching his opponent Spidergum on stage during a live tournament awards ceremony.

The violent incident took place at the CAGGTUS Leipzig CS2 tournament following the grand finals, where MAUschine’s team fell to the Spidergum’s Legends Lobby, which scored a repeat victory in the event.

DACH CS Masters imposes 10-year ban on MAUschine

Tournament organizer DACH CS Masters announced a lengthy 10-year suspension against MAUschine, making clear there would be zero tolerance for physical violence at LAN events.

“We do not tolerate physical assaults against other players at LAN and have acted accordingly,” league management said in a statement in German.

“MAUschine is banned for at least 10 years and the incident has additionally been reported to ESIC. In case it wasn’t clear, we think violence has no place in our league,” it added.

The case being referred to the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) could potentially lead to further consequences beyond the tournament organizer’s own punishment.

Possible spark to the altercation

According to a statement from regnum4games, Spidergum’s main organization, tensions began during the first map of the final when Spidergum reportedly quoted MAUschine on stream after a clutch play in round 3.

The remark was described as light banter, but regnum4games claimed MAUschine reacted strongly and even threatened physical violence toward Spidergum. Tensions appeared to boil over at the post-match awards ceremony, where MAUschine struck Spidergum in the face in what regnum4games called “a clear punch” that crossed every line of sportsmanship.

Regnum4games denounced the incident, and confirmed it is providing legal support to Spidergum.

“After learning of this physical attack on our player, we immediately entered into dialogue with him and his team to obtain further information and to ascertain his well-being. Furthermore, we will provide Spidergum with legal support in this matter to the best of our ability,” the org said in German.

Regnum4games praised DACH CS Masters for acting quickly with what it called an appropriate punishment, and called on CAGGTUS Leipzig to take additional action.

“We continue to strive for a violence-free esports scene in Germany and demand clear consequences from CAGGTUS Leipzig for this behavior. Violence of any kind has no place at events and must be consistently sanctioned by us as a community.”

Spidergum reacts with humor after incident

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Spidergum appeared to take the incident in stride publicly, responding with humor in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Bullseye from MAUschine, better aim than with the AWP and especially on stream,” Spidergum said.

While trash talk and heated rivalries are nothing new in competitive CS, physical altercations remain exceedingly rare.

The severity of the 10-year ban on MAUschine just shows how seriously the TOs are treating the incident, especially as the esports scene continues to push for greater professionalism. Meanwhile, the legal fallout from the assault remains to be seen.
