Crystal Palace XI vs Manchester United: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest today

Jean-Philippe Mateta starts up top for Crystal Palace in their Premier League clash with Manchester United today.

In what will be Palace’s second visit to Old Trafford in four days after Tuesday night’s 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat, Hodgson said no players currently sidelined had recovered from their injuries.

Jairo Riedewald has passed a fitness check, however, having only been suffering from cramp after being forced off in midweek.

“Nothing has changed since Tuesday”, said Hodgson. “We haven’t recovered everybody, so pretty much the same squad that we took to Manchester on Tuesday we will be taking there tomorrow.”

On former United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, he added: “He’s had a scan. The initial scan wasn’t very positive, I’m sorry to say.

“He has another scan in a week’s time and maybe we’ll be lucky in that it will show somewhat less damage than the first one, but it didn’t look like good news.”

Striker Odsonne Edouard suffered an injury against Fulham last weekend. Hodgson said: “This is the first league game he’ll miss.

“This game has come just a little bit too soon, and we can’t take the risk of reactivating his slight muscle injury and make it more than that. That’s the decision we’ve made.”

Crystal Palace XI: Johnstone; Ward, Guehi, Andersen, Mitchell; Doucoure, Hughes; Ayew, Eze, Schlupp; Mateta

Subs: Matthews, Clyne, Richards, Riedewald, Holding, Ozoh, Rak-Sakyi, Ebiowei, Ola-Adebomi

Injuries: Olise, Henderson, Franca, Tomkins, Edouard, Lerma, Ahamada, Ferguson

Time and date: 3pm BST, Saturday September 30, 2023

Venue: Old Trafford
