Crystal Palace head into the Premier League’s winter break ruing a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in which they were undone by a combination of their own initial timidity and two officiating controversies that infuriated manager Patrick Vieira.
That result followed the conceding of a last-gasp equaliser at rivals Brighton, with an FA Cup win over Millwall sandwiched between that and a high-scoring defeat by West Ham.
