Crystal Palace pair Michael Olise and Wilfried Zaha ‘still have a chance’ of being fit to face Arsenal

Patrick Vieira says Crystal Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Michael Olise could both still face Arsenal despite picking up injuries on international duty.

Olise withdrew from the France Under-21s squad after suffering inflammation in his foot which is being assessed by the Palace medical staff, while Zaha missed his reunion with England at Wembley Stadium following a hamstring problem.

While neither have trained since their return from international duty, Vieira is hopeful that - given they do not face Arsenal until Monday - his star men could be available.

“He is still in the medical room,” Vieira said of Zaha. “We will see how it is going to be tomorrow, but we have to wait for the next couple of days before thinking about him starting training with the squad.

“We will wait and see what happens. We have until Monday so hopefully he will get better, and he can have a couple of days of training with the team. We have to wait and see what will happen over the next couple of days.

“We don’t know. The good thing about Wilfried is that he does not get injured very often. That is the hope about that. We just have to wait and see day after day.”

Asked about Olise, Vieira added: “He just had an issue with his foot.

“He is still in the treatment room as well. He is not ready to do some work outside.

“We have to wait day after day and see how he is feeling, and then we will see.

“Both of them still have a chance [of playing against Arsenal].”

Both Zaha and Olise have been key figures for Vieira’s more progressive Palace side, though their absence could hand a chance to Eberechi Eze to impress having struggled for minutes since his return from injury.
