Crystal Palace: Oliver Glasner issues Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix injury updates as stars forced off

Oliver Glasner has played down fears of a serious injury to either Adam Wharton or Maxence Lacroix.

Crystal Palace booked their place in the Conference League semi-finals on Thursday, progressing 4-2 on aggregate despite losing 2-1 at Fiorentina in the second-leg.

While the performance was far from perfect, Glasner will be more concerned about injuries to two key players in Wharton and Lacroix, neither of whom made it through the first half.

The Austrian has confirmed an adductor injury to Wharton and a knock for Lacroix.

He told TNT Sports: “Adam is an abductor [injury], like when he had to leave the England camp. Let's see, it doesn't look so serious but we have to assess him further.

“Maxence was foot to foot contact and then he felt his knee, the medial ligament so let's see but it is painful.

“Unfortunately we play in four days again but credit to the players that came in. Today we are celebrating going to the semi-finals, it is a massive achievement for the players and for Crystal Palace and we are enjoying tonight.”

Glasner did not clarify whether Jean-Philippe Mateta’s half-time substitution was pre-planned or due to injury, though he lauded his side’s resilience on a challenging night.

Palace return to European action on April 30, visiting Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Glasner added that he has not watched Arda Turan’s side play, but admitted he expects a tricky fixture.

“I didn't watch them but I saw the line up, I think they started with six Brazilian players, I expect them to be a very technical side.

“We will start to prepare watching the games they have played. Of course in between we play West Ham and Liverpool and we want to do well in the Premier League.”
