Crystal Palace hope for Ismaila Sarr deal as club relaunch interest long-standing target

Crystal Palace are targeting a move for Marseille winger Ismaila Sarr.

The Eagles have been tracking Sarr for years and missed out on him in 2019 when he moved joined Watford from Rennes.

Palace are in the market for a wide player after selling Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for around £50million.

Sarr has been identified as a target by sporting director Dougie Freedman and it is hoped Marseille could be tempted into selling as they revamp their squad for new boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Marseille have already signed Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham, but further reinforcements are expected.

The Ligue 1 club are interested in Eddie Nketiah and the sale of Sarr could help them fund a move for the Arsenal striker.

Palace are pressing ahead with an aggressive recruitment drive this summer after Freedman snubbed interest from Newcastle to stay at Selhurst Park.

They have already signed defender Chadi Riad and midfielder Daichi Kamada, while they are also interested in Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe.

Palace face competition for Smith Rowe from Fulham, who are also keen on the 23-year-old.

Smith Rowe struggled for minutes at Arsenal last season when he played just 346 minutes in the Premier League.

He started Arsenal’s opening pre-season friendly last week against Leyton Orient and scored in a 2-0 win for the Gunners.
