All the best memes and reactions to Brooklyn Beckham’s claims

Brooklyn Beckham’s explosive claims about his mother Victoria’s behaviour have spawned a wave of online memes, with one joking clip appearing to receive the unexpected approval of his younger brother Cruz.

Musician Cruz, 20, liked a viral social media post on Tuesday that mocked Victoria’s alleged “inappropriate” dance with her eldest son, just hours after Brooklyn levelled a series of accusations against his parents in a lengthy public statement.

The clip suggested the former Spice Girl had requested Ginuwine’s raunchy 1996 R&B hit Pony for a “first dance” with Brooklyn, a tongue-in-cheek reference to claims made by the 26-year-old as the Beckham family feud intensified.

The track, which surged in popularity after Channing Tatum’s striptease scene in Magic Mike, has since been widely used across social media as users joked about what Victoria’s alleged dancing might have entailed.

In his statement on Monday evening, Brooklyn accused his mother of “hijacking” a moment he and wife Nicola Peltz had planned weeks in advance, claiming he was left “uncomfortable” and “humiliated” in front of hundreds of guests.

The aspiring chef alleged that Marc Anthony, a close friend of David and Victoria who performed at the reception, instead called him to the stage where his mother was waiting to dance with him.

“I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” Brooklyn wrote, adding that the incident contributed to the couple’s decision to later renew their vows without his family present.

Brooklyn and Nicola married in April 2022 in a lavish £3.5 million ceremony at the Peltz family estate in Palm Beach, Florida, attended by around 500 guests. They went on to renew their vows in August 2025 in New York’s Westchester County, with Brooklyn’s parents and siblings not invited.

As jokes and speculation flooded social media following Brooklyn’s statement, Cruz’s apparent reaction raised eyebrows. The clip he liked features a mock DJ announcement stating: “And now for the song requested by the mother of the groom for her first dance with her son,” before Pony begins to play.

However, accounts of what happened on the night differ. Vogue, which covered the event in detail, reported that Brooklyn and Nicola’s official first dance took place earlier in the evening to Lloyiso’s rendition of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love.

According to the magazine, Marc Anthony later took to the stage at around 11pm to perform I Need To Know, at which point Brooklyn “invited his mother on stage for a dance”, joined by David Beckham and the couple’s then 10-year-old daughter Harper.

That version stands in direct contrast to Brooklyn’s account.

The best Beckham memes and reactions

There’s no shortage of other memes and reactions to Brooklyn’s bombshell series of Instagram stories. Alongside streams of AI-generated ‘first dance’ videos and comparisons from pop culture, comedian Munya Chawawa posted a ‘Brooklyn Beckham drops a diss track’ video.

Meanwhile, Ugly Betty fans were delighted to see that the episode starring Victoria Beckham had resurfaced. In the episode, entitled ‘A Nice Day for a Posh Wedding’, VB stars as herself, stealing the spotlight as bride Wilhelmina Slater's (Vanessa Williams) maid of honour. Designer Vera Wang also guest stars.

Other viral posts have focused on Brooklyn’s claim that his mother “hijacked” his first dance with his wife, Nicola, at their wedding. Some of the most viewed of these (with views in excess of a million) humorously compared the moment to dance scenes from British comedies including Nighty Night and Amandaland.

Even brands are now jumping on the Beckham meme bandwagon...

Adding further fuel to the row, wedding guest Stavros Agapiou, partner of DJ Fat Tony who performed at the reception, appeared to back Brooklyn’s claims. In a now-deleted Instagram comment, Agapiou wrote: “I was there and she did. He’s telling the truth.”

DJ Fat Tony himself, meanwhile, posted the Amandaland video with the caption: ‘Actual video footage it’s true I was there !’

Victoria Beckham has not publicly responded to the allegations, though sources close to the designer have said she is devastated by the breakdown in her relationship with her eldest son.

The former Spice Girl has long been known for her love of dancing, a trait that became a viral talking point after the 2023 Netflix documentary Beckham showed her and David dancing together in their Cotswolds kitchen, spawning the TikTok trend known as The Beckham Test.

Since Brooklyn’s statement, clips from Victoria’s early 2000s solo career, including Not Such An Innocent Girl, have also resurfaced. The song has now shot to number one on the iTunes chart in the UK and Ireland, a first for Victoria as a solo artist.

There have also been many memes Photoshopping her image into footage from Brooklyn’s widely mocked 2017 photography book.

David, meanwhile has fired back, saying “children are allowed to make mistakes”.

The story continues to keep the internet gripped.
