Crumbling concrete schools would have been rebuilt under scrapped scheme

Unions have condemned ministers over a decision to axe a major rebuilding programme which would have covered at least 13 schools now found to have collapse-risk concrete.

The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme was axed in 2010 in response to concerns over its cost and scope.
