Cruise passenger drinks 14 tequila shots – has serious fall – and is awarded $300K

  • A California nurse, Diana Sanders, has won a $300,000 lawsuit against Carnival Corp. after claiming she was over-served alcohol on a cruise.
  • Sanders alleged she was given at least 14 shots of tequila over eight-and-a-half hours during a January 2024 cruise, leading to a severe fall and injuries.
  • The fall resulted in significant injuries, including a concussion, possible traumatic brain injury, and back injuries.
  • The jury found Carnival 60 per cent responsible for the incident, with Sanders bearing 40 per cent of the responsibility.
  • Carnival Corp. has stated it disagrees with the verdict and plans to pursue a new trial and appeal.
