Crude Prices Settle Lower on Dollar Strength and Chinese Energy Demand Concerns

November WTI crude oil (CLX23) on Monday closed down -0.35 (-0.39%), and Nov RBOB gasoline (RBX23) closed down -0.85 (-0.34%).

Nov WTI crude oil and gasoline prices Monday posted moderate losses, with gasoline falling to a 3-week low.  Monday’s rally in the dollar index (DXY00) to a 6-1/2 month high undercut energy prices.  Crude prices were also weighed down by concerns that a worsening of China's property debt crisis will derail China's economy and energy demand.   However, losses in crude were limited by expectations that global oil supplies would remain tight.
