Crows star Phillips cleared of ACL tear

Scans have revealed Adelaide AFLW star Erin Phillips has a sprained knee. (AAP)

Adelaide superstar Erin Phillips has been cleared of an ACL tear in what is a huge boost to the Crows' AFLW flag hopes.

There were fears Phillips had suffered a serious injury after she landed awkwardly on her left knee during the fourth quarter of Saturday's 40-point win over GWS.

Phillips had a left knee reconstruction after tearing her ACL during the 2019 grand final win and she also needed an arthroscopy at the end of the 2021 campaign.

But scans showed her latest injury was nothing more than a sprain.

The Crows are yet to set a date for Phillips' return, but there's optimism it won't be a long stint on the sidelines.

"Erin is a professional in every sense of the word and will give herself every chance to come back as quickly as possible," Adelaide's head of women's football Phil Harper said.

"We'll monitor her progress in the coming days before determining a return to play date."

Phillips is arguably Adelaide's most important player, and the ladder-leading Crows will be desperate to have her back in the side again soon.

Adelaide have built a commanding 6-1 record this season along with a percentage of 230.

They will be back in action on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash with Fremantle at Fremantle Oval.
