BENGALURU: On August 11, 1868, when the first Maharaja’s Gold Cup was held at the Agram ground, it attracted top horses in the country. With the royal family of Mysuru hosting the showpiece event, the cream of the racing fraternity was in attendance.
Steeped in history and tradition, the event, over the past few decades, lost its sheen with richer derbies taking centre stage.
