North Melbourne coach Darren Crocker would prefer if their AFLW semi-final is moved to a bigger venue, saying it would make sense.
But the Tigers have defended their request, as the higher-ranked team, to play the semi-final on Saturday afternoon at their Punt Rd home.
The scheduling has sparked criticism on two fronts, with Punt Rd only holding around 3000 fans and the game selling out inside 15 minutes.
Richmond and North had a draw only a fortnight ago in front of more than 3000 fans at Arden St.
Bigger venues such as Victoria Park and Ikon Park might have been options.
Another issue is that the game clashes with the Matildas soccer friendly against Sweden, also being played on Saturday afternoon at nearby AAMI Park.
Adelaide's home semi against Collingwood also is being played on Saturday afternoon.
"It's a good debate. All I'm disappointed about is that the game obviously got sold out in 13 minutes," Crocker said.
"I just feel if we're looking to grow a product like AFLW, this is the time potentially to be able to open it up and play it at a bigger venue.
"It would make sense to move it ... but we're happy to play anywhere, any time.
"It's disappointing that this topic is overriding what should be a couple of fantastic finals."
Earlier on Tuesday, Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale defended the venue call as being in the club's best interests.
He was reminded of backing an AFL decision several years ago to move a final out of Geelong to maximise the crowd.
"There are no perfect decisions in football ... we've got to make the right decision and we just think in the circumstances, given what I've discussed, this is the right decision for Richmond, it's probably fair to say," Gale told SEN.
Meanwhile, Crocker said the Kangaroos had learned a lot from the draw against Richmond, when Amy Macdonald put an effective tag on North star Jasmine Garner.
"You just want to see the better players in the competition, whether it's Jas Garner, Monique Conti or Ellie McKenzie, being able to display their talent," Crocker said.
"We learned a lot from that game, that we can be better at protecting Jas.
"She would have learned a lot about herself, about getting such close attention."
