Kick-off: 8pm BST / 3pm ET / 12pm PT
FREE STREAM: BBC iPlayer
Croatia are still alive but barely kicking. Just when it looked like the 2018 World Cup runners-up had finally woken up – scoring twice in three minutes to lead Albania 2-1 – Zlatko Dalic's side retreated back in to their shells and invited pressure that eventually told. Klaus Gjasula's injury-time equaliser, having earlier put through his own net, spelt disaster for Croatia and meant not even a win against Italy guarantees knockout passage for the laboured Luka Modric and co. Their task is simple – win and hope.
Italy were on the end of as one-sided a 1-0 defeat as is possible to conceive against Spain on Thursday night. Paolo Maldini regen Riccardo Calafiori's unfortunate own goal proved the difference, but Luciano Spalletti's men were battered, shipping 20 shots and more than 50 attacks across 90 minutes. A win guarantees second spot, but they don't have history on their side. The Azzurri have recorded just one victory in nine previous games against Croatia, back in a 1942 friendly.
Kick-off is at 8pm BST. Make sure you know how to watch Euro 2024 wherever you are.

How to watch Croatia vs Italy for FREE in the UK
Use a VPN to watch FREE from anywhere
Croatia vs Italy is free on BBC One/iPlayer for viewers in the UK. Outside the UK? No problem. If you're away from home and want to tune into iPlayer as normal, you can use a VPN so that you don't get blocked by the broadcaster.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs, creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and will let you watch. And all the info going between is entirely encrypted, anonymous and safe – and that's a result.
There are plenty of good-value options out there but, for Euro 2024, FourFourTwo recommends:
NordVPN is basically a tap-in:
1. Install it: NordVPN
2. Fire it up and choose your service. So, if you want to watch a UK streaming service, choose the UK server.
3. Enjoy the game. Open up BBC iPlayer and watch the stream.
Croatia vs Italy live stream: team news
Neither side have any new injury worries going into the game. Croatia will be without Nikola Vlasic for the rest of the tournament after the forward left the training camp last week, but are otherwise at full strength. Dalic will again make a call between Ante Budimir and Bruno Petkovic, with the pair alternating as centre-forward thus far.
Luka Modric hasn't been at his brilliant best this tournament, but the Real Madrid great should still start alongside fellow stalwarts Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozovic. If coach Dalic is likely to change any of his experienced midfielders, it would be the latter.
Italy's only 'maybe' for this game was Federico Dimarco, but the Inter Milan left-back seems to have won his fitness race to feature from the start.
Gialuca Scamacca has started both games as coach Spalletti's striker, but the much-tattooed Atalanta forward's lack of off-the-ball work may see a recall for Mateo Retegui, whose movement is electric.
