Netflix's steamy new BDSM thriller Obsession starring Irish actress Charlie Murphy is being met with poor reviews, following its release on the platform.
The four-part mini-series centres around Anna Barton (Charlie Murphy), and her affair with her fiancé's father William (Richard Armitage), who playa the part of a "brilliant" and successful surgeon.
While it was tipped to become the next erotic sensation akin to Fifty Shades of Grey, the new series has received poor reviews from both fans and the media.

The Independent newspaper, based in the UK said the show "gives us an overload of shlock, foreboding string music and some depressing, grunty shagging."
The show's intimacy co-ordinator, Adelaide Waldrop, who worked with Charlie and Richard in order to perfect the BDSM scenes and display the infatuation between the character's said the sexual story telling was so essential to the plot.
Adelaide revealed that a lot of research went into BDSM dynamics, the power structure of their relationship and the physical language that led to the choreography of some of its raunchiest scenes.
She also detailed that every touch and grab between the two actors during filming was checked to see if they were comfortable with what they had rehearsed and what happened in the moment.
In its review, the Irish Independent compared the sex featured in the BDSM thriller to "shoving a dead mackerel down your underpants", adding that the pair don't look like they were enjoying the romping scenes at all.
BBC culture, in its review labelled the new mini-series as "excruciating to watch."
They said that the thriller element bears a low level of threat, with very little dramatic attention.
The Guardian newspaper, rated the new show with two out of five stars, saying that the facial expressions in the show, intent on showing infatuation and lust, are actually akin to something else.
"The actors in this erotic thriller all seem to need the toilet," they said, conceding that the lead actors do a good job of trying to sell what little they have been given.
Fans shared mixed reviews of the newly-released Netflix show.
One Twitter user said: "Why are the scenes in this so cringe and awkward?"
Another, labelled Charlie Murphy as a rockstar, while another said: "Have to say they chose a great cast."
