Critics Choice Awards 2025: Eugenio Derbez, Gael García y Diego Luna among the TV nominees

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) unveiled the television category nominees for the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards, set to take place on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, with Mexican actors Eugenio Derbez, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna in the list.

Leading the nominations is FX's Emmy-winning series "Shōgun," which garnered six nods, including Best Drama Series. Producer and star Hiroyuki Sanada is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series, while Anna Sawai and Moeka Hoshi received nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, respectively.

Other series with multiple nominations include ABC's "Abbott Elementary," HBO's "Hacks," Netflix's "The Diplomat," and FX's "What We Do in the Shadows," all of which have been recognized by the CCA in previous years. Newcomers such as Apple's "Disclaimer," HBO's "The Penguin," and Amazon's "English Teacher" also made a strong showing, reflecting the diverse landscape of television programming.

Notably, Latino talent is well represented among the nominees. Selena Gomez's "Only Murders in the Building" is nominated, as well as Derbez's "Acapulco" and García Bernal and Luna's "La Máquina."

Brian Jordan Alvarez is nominated as Best Actor in a Comedy Series for "English Teacher" and Harvey Guillén as Best Secondary Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on FX's "What We Do in the Shadows." Liza Colón-Zayas is in the female counterpart category for "The Bear." She won the Emmy this year for the role.

When are the 2025 Critics Choice Awards?

The 30th Critics Choice Awards will be hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler for the third consecutive year. The ceremony will air live on E! from 7-10 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, January 12, and will be available to stream the following day on Peacock. A one-hour red carpet pre-show will precede the event, starting at 6 p.m. ET/PT.

The CCA is set to announce film category nominations on Thursday, December 12, 2024, completing the list of honorees for this year's ceremony. As the awards season progresses, the Critics Choice Awards continue to serve as a significant barometer for industry recognition, celebrating excellence across both television and film.
