Former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to recoup the £16million he lost out on after the early termination of his contract, as part of the offer made to him by Saudi Arabia side Al-Nassr.
According to ESPN, the Saudi side have said that they would be willing to compensate Ronaldo for the £16m of wages that he would have received for the rest of his contract, before United terminated his deal last week. Following the 37-year-old's scathing criticism of the club, the Reds were left with no other alternative but to call time on his second spell at Old Trafford.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had been keen to leave United over the summer in pursuit of Champions League football, yet it now appears his next move could be to the Middle East. The report also claims that Ronaldo is still keen to play in Europe, but that he is waiting for a clearer picture over which clubs hold an interest in him before committing himself one way or another.
Elsewhere, Italian outlet Calciomercato (via Sport Witness) report that United have reignited their interest in Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech.
The 29-year-old has been in superb form for his country during the World Cup, as he helped Morocco upset the odds with a 2-0 win over Belgium, having already held their own in a goalless draw with Croatia. Erik ten Hag was rumoured to be keen on bringing the former Ajax man to Old Trafford over the summer, a move that the United board were believed to be uncomfortable with.
The Chelsea star has seen his playing time severely restricted at Stamford Bridge this season, and a move to United could present Ziyech with the perfect escape route back to more regular action under Ten Hag.
