Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has posted a red heart emoji accompanied by a picture of him pointing to the sky after scoring in his first appearance since the tragic loss of his baby son.
The 37-year-old returned to the Ralf Rangnick's starting line-up having missed the midweek defeat to Liverpool after revealing that one of his newborn twins had sadly passed away. Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced in October they were expecting twins.
In a statement, Ronaldo wrote: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel."

“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Both the Anfield and the Emirates crowd have this week shown their support for the United striker. Ronaldo marked his return to action with a goal after hooking beyond Aaron Ramsdale shortly before the break, pointing to the sky for his celebration.
