Cristiano Ronaldo receives consolation prize after first FIFA snub in 17 years

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Saudi Pro League player of the the month for February having scored eight goals in four matches for his new club Al-Nassr.

It comes after the FIFA Best award was handed out this week, with Lionel Messi taking the crown ahead of Karim Benzema after leading Argentina to the World Cup. In addition to his greatest rival taking the honour, Ronaldo was left out of the FIFA World XI for the first time since 2006.

The former Manchester United forward has started life in Saudi Arabia well, with his presence in the team helping Al-Nassr to secure a place at the top of the table. This will be a boost as they hope to wrestle the title from AL-Hilal, who have won the league in each of the past three seasons.
