Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been inundated with thoughtful messages of support from across the world after sharing a photo with his new born daughter.
Ronaldo posted the new image with the message: "Forever Love", as fans rushed to support the striker after the tragic death of his son.
Ronaldo, 37, had been expecting twins, a boy and a girl, alongside his partner Georgina Rodriguez but the couple announced the heartbreaking news that they had lost their son.
As reported in Manchester Evening News, the football star shared an image on his social media accounts of himself smiling as he cradled his baby daughter in his arms with the simple message "Forever Love".
The black and white picture shows a topless Ronaldo sitting on a sofa with his adorable baby girl.
The post was also captioned with a heart and a prayer emoji.
Fans were swift to send messages of love and support in their thousands on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday afternoon.
United team-mates including Marcus Rashford sent red heart emojis in support. While others posted messages hailing the photo "adorable" and "the loveliest moment".
One fan wrote: "God bless her brother," alongside a red heart emoji.
"She is cute," said another.
A third commented: "Congratulations brother," with red heart and slapping emojis.
Georgina and their daughter were recently able to return home last week and be reunited with the rest of his family.
Ronaldo released a picture of his baby daughter with all their family.
In posting that picture, Ronaldo also gave his thanks to the fans who had sent messages of support.
He wrote: "Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us.
"We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family.
"Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world," he said.
Ronaldo and his family were flooded with message of support after he announced the sad passing of his baby son.
Fans from Arsenal and Liverpool delivered applause at the seven-minute mark of their games against United as a way to show their support to the Portuguese superstar.
When he announced the death of his son, Ronaldo had touchingly spoken to say that the birth of his daughter was a message of hope.
He also took the opportunity to thank the medical team who had helped deliver her and try to save his son.
He said: “It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness," the statement said.
