A target of the Criminal Assets Bureau has been killed in a road smash.
The Mirror has learned that Ian McMorrow - described in the High Court in May as being “actively involved the sale and supply of drugs” - died in an accident outside Sligo town yesterday evening.
The accident happened on the N16 at Glencar, north of McMorrow’s hometown of Sligo at around 8.30pm.

Initial reports say he was on a bike when it crashed.

In May, High Court judge Mr Justice Alex Owens ruled that it was reasonable to believe that a Volkswagen Golf, two diamond rings and €5,000 in cash belonging to him were funded by the drugs trade.
The items, seized by CAB, were declared proceeds of crime and confiscated from McMorrow, who had more than 50 criminal convictions.
Gardai confirmed to The Mirror that officers were investigating an incident in Glencar.
A spokesman told us: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the N16 at Glencar in County Sligo that occurred at approximately 8:30pm on Thursday 29th June 2023.
“The road is currently closed with local diversions in place. The road is expected to remain closed overnight and tomorrow morning.
“No further information is available at this time.”
