Just when it looked as if England's cricketers had turned a corner, and put the Ashes debacle behind them, an investigation has been launched into a nightclub incident in the early hours involving captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson.
The England and Wales Cricket Board announced they were looking into a "breach of team protocols" following Sunday's first Test win over New Zealand, with the pair "in a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning when an incident took place".
Atkinson took 5-30 in the second innings as England wrapped up a 115-run win over the Black Caps at Lord's in their first Test since the 4-1 thrashing Down Under.
The ECB added: "We are currently seeking further information, and an announcement regarding the squad for the second Test will be made in due course.
