Crews work to rescue container ship Rio Madeira stranded off NSW south coast town of Narooma

Narooma Australian Maritime Safety Authority AMSA

Crews are working to rescue a stranded cargo ship drifting off the New South Wales south coast.

The Rio Madeira is about 70 kilometres east of Narooma and is drifting south along the coast.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) said the Singaporean container ship had a power failure on Thursday night.
