A Christmas Day dinner for Creetown and Carsluith residents is back on the menu after a gap of three years.
The get together in the youth club hall in Creetown is aimed at individuals and couples with no one else to share the big day.
Covid blocked the social in 2020 and 2021 – now organiser Eddie McGaw wants to ensure that 2022 is the best yet.
He said: “There will be a three-course Christmas dinner, music, bingo and games.
“We don’t want people to sit in the house and be alone on Christmas Day.
“It’s a chance for folk to get out for a wee while and maybe see folk they have not seen for two or three years.
“I think it will be even more important this year because of the cost of living nowadays.”
Posters advertising the social event are being circulated locally.
Eddie said: “The dinner is for anybody in Creetown and Carsluith aged over 18 who is alone or for couples with one partner aged over 65.
“If people don’t want to put their names down on the forms because they are a bit shy that’s fine.
“They can just contact me – there’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”
Eddie added: “Covid left a lot of people isolated and this is a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. There will be a raffle and if anyone would like to give a donation please get in touch.
The party is on from 1pm to 3pm and six volunteers will be there to dish up the food and entertainment. Anyone wanting information can contact Eddie on 07967 267 850.
