Creetown boss happy with squad ahead of new South of Scotland League season

Creetown boss Jamie Adams is delighted with how his squad is shaping up for the new season.

The former Ayr United midfielder, who took over from Colin Wilson during the summer, has further boosted the squad by re-signing Glen Mitchell and Jock Hill.

He said: “We’ve managed to get a couple more in to add to what we’ve got. If somebody told me at the start of the season I’d have this squad I’d be absolutely delighted.

“If I manage to get one or two more in it would be the icing on the cake but I just need to see what happens.

“We started training about two weeks ago and the boys have been doing really well.”

Creetown began their friendlies with a 5-4 win over St Cuthbert Wanderers in the Jim Hyslop Memorial Trophy on Saturday.

Josh Rennie scored four goals and Tyler Rennie one as Creetown defeated the South of Scotland League champions.

Adams said: “It was a good game. It was a bit unfortunate a few boys had things arranged and we were a bit short so I had to play a few boys longer than I wanted to, especially some of the older lads.

“The boys played really well, put in a good shift and hopefully got something out of the game.”

Creetown face Irish side Moneyslane on Saturday before heading to Dalbeattie Star in the memorial trophy on Wednesday.

They then take on Vale of Clyde and Dalry Thistle in their final friendlies.
