The 12-year-old son of James O’Flaherty moved mourners to their feet after he paid tribute to his dad who he described as “a great man”.
Hamish O’Flaherty addressed mourners at his father’s funeral mass following the Creeslough tragedy in Co Donegal on Friday.
James O’Flaherty was one of ten people killed in the blast with his son narrowly avoiding death after deciding to wait in the car while his dad popped into the shop.

Those in attendance at the service on Wednesday were moved to tears after Hamish’s “brave” and “inspiring” tribute.
He said: “Hello, I'm grateful for all the people who have come here today. I'd just like to say a few things about my dad.
“He was a great man. He worked very hard and very long each day, whether it was around the house or at work.
“He had no shame which I think is a great thing to not have.
“He wore a jacket with a huge paint stain on the side of it everywhere. He managed this by leaning on a wall still wet with paint when we were renovating a house…
“He wore the jacket everywhere; to the shops to the movies and to the beach. Everywhere really.”
Hamish went on to thank all those who have offered their support over the past few days.
He said: “I would like to say thank you to all the people who have given and offered so many things.
“The emergency services too, who were there within 15 minutes and also came to the wake to pay their respects during the past few days.
“I would also like to say something which I have learned in the past week or so.
“I would like to say you should be grateful for your families. Cherish them. Be grateful because they won't be there forever so use up the time you have wisely.
“Also be grateful for your life because that too will not last forever but be grateful for you'll be able to rest after your hard work.
“Be grateful that God has given us this life and all the things in it, our families, our friends, our home and this world that is awash with hope and love that God has given us.
“Thank you.”
Applause erupted throughout the church and mourners took to their feet following the young boy’s words which were “wise beyond his years”.
