Creed Humphrey says training camp a crucial part of season preparation

The Kansas City Chiefs offensive line has garnered a tremendous amount of appreciation since being revamped after the 2020 season. An essential piece of that still-developing change of the guard is Creed Humphrey who has started at the center position for Kansas City since being drafted in 2021.

Humphrey was named to his first Pro Bowl last year and understands the preparation needed for his team to repeat as Super Bowl champions in 2023. He spoke with reporters on Wednesday about the importance of training camp, and his excitement to play in pads during Friday’s workouts.

“You know, that’s [what] the beautiful part about camp is, it builds mental toughness,” Humphrey explained. “So, you know, it’s something that you fight through on those days that you don’t want to go, but it makes you a better player for it. I think everybody’s really excited to get the pads on it’s a lot more fun if not more fun playing football pads for sure. So I think everybody’s really excited for Friday.”

Kansas City has practiced padless in the early days of training camp, but will officially begin playing football as it was meant to be played starting in their next workouts after getting some much-needed rest on Thursday.
