It's one of the weirdest food combinations that Nottingham has ever seen that will either turn your stomach or have you drooling. A new limited edition Homer Simpson-inspired doughnut burger is the result of a collaboration between burger giant Fat Hippo and Derbyshire doughnut trail blazers Project D.
It's not the first doughnut burger (RIP Red's True Barbecue) but it is the first to come with icing... pink icing with sprinkles no less. Inside the classic Homer snack is chilli and lime spiced buttermilk chicken, smoked bacon, blueberry Jell-o and herby cream cheese. Accompanied by hot chilli and lime seasoned fries it's a party in your mouth, Springfield-style.
Fat Hippo, who aren't shy when it comes to pushing the boundaries, reassures us it's not an early April Fool's Day prank. Called the Big D'oh! will be available from March 22 to April 22 at the restaurant in Broad Street, Hockley, as well as via Deliveroo and click and collect.

The iconic pink iced doughnut with the rainbow sprinkles is Homer Simpson's favourite sweet treat. Controversial it may seem to take this legendary snack and make it into a meal, but Fat Hippo’s BurgerLab aren’t afraid of a challenge, and when it results in a feast fit for lunch, dinner AND dessert - we’re not complaining.
Fat Hippo head chef, Richard Nelson, said: "Our BurgerLab love an exciting brief and our specials allow them to work with a range of new and exciting flavours, ingredients and suppliers to really get creative. We first noticed Project D on Tiktok, with their viral video creating the ‘Homer doughnut’ and knew we had to do something with them. It’s been a pleasure working with such trendsetters of the fast-growing dessert world.”
