Craig Moore names Glen Kamara Rangers transfer condition that MUST be met as he shares Ryan Kent contract concern

Craig Moore believes Rangers should only sell Glen Kamara if they have a replacement lined up.

The Finnish midfielder could be on his way to Nice in a £10million deadline day deal. His agents are reportedly in France trying to get a deal done, while the Ligue 1 club created a profile for the player on their official website before removing it. A transfer fee in that region would see the Gers make a massive profit after signing Kamara from Dundee for £50,000 three years ago.

But Moore can't accept that the Light Blues would sanction a deal without having sourced another midfielder to come in first. The Australian pointed to Kamara 's display against PSV in Eindhoven that helped Rangers qualify for the Champions League group stages, and pointed to Ryan Jack’s fitness issues being a worry should Kamara be allowed to leave with so little time left in the window.

“He’s an important player,” Moore told GO Radio. “I’ve got a lot of time for Ryan Jack and think he's a fantastic player, but he’s come back from a long-term injury and it takes time. He's in and out, not playing every single match. You need depth.

“Kamara against PSV away from home was one of the best on the night. He came off after a little knock on the knee but he was positive. Not only playing his role and screening the back line, but getting the ball and passing it forward to Tillman, who takes up fantastic positions. Then all of a sudden, you’re a threat going forward.”

Moore is also concerned that Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are yet to sign new contracts at Ibrox. Kent has continually been linked with a move to Leeds United. They look set to lose Welsh winger Daniel James to Fulham, but have reportedly agreed a deal for Marseille’s Bamba Dieng as his replacement.

But Moore is adamant the former Liverpool youngster’s contract should have been tied up long before now. And despite Morelos’ recent issues, he doesn't want to see his former club lose the Colombian for nothing either.

“It’s been very, very quiet,” he said. “We know the activity that’s come into Rangers. Kamara would be a loss, there’s no doubt about that. I’m sure they’d have somebody that would come in.

“There is a real concern in relation to the business - or lack of - with Morelos and Kent. I’m a strong believer that players with value such as these two, business should have been done a long time ago. You can’t afford players to run their contracts down and not receive a single pound.”

Fellow pundit Andy Walker echoed Moore’s sentiments on Kamara and Kent. But Walker still expects the Givan club to add before midnight even if Kamara stays where he is.

“I’d be amazed if Kamara goes and they didn’t bring anyone in,” Walker said. “I just think that would be an extraordinary transfer window. They brought Souttar in in January, they’ve brought Davies in and they've got Helander who’s injured, but those three are all in the same position. I’m sure Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be looking for another striker. I don't know where Morelos’ head is at the moment. And maybe another midfield player. I’m just surprised at the way they're handling the situation with Ryan Kent. I know he can still choose to sign for Rangers again and extend his contract but he also has the option of walking away in a number of months.

“I’d also be surprised if they kept Kamara and didn’t bring anyone in.I just think you've missed an opportunity there. It doesn’t make sense to sell him and not have someone lined up to replace him.

“Kamara was one of the key performers in Eindhoven. He was absolutely terrific. He's done it before in Celtic-Rangers games and is a player for the big occasion. He’ll play on Saturday, obviously if he’s still in Glasgow.
