Hearts have been handed a major blow with Craig Halkett out for the season.
The defender was forced off after just five minutes in the Christmas Eve clash with Dundee United and after a scan it has been confirmed he has suffered a cruciate injury. It will come as a huge disappointment to both the defender and boss Robbie Neilson after an injury-hit campaign to date.
The 27-year-old is the latest high profile injury to hit the capital club after skipper Craig Gordon suffered a double leg break in the same game and will be out on the sidelines for an extended period of time. Boss Neilson has backed Halkett to return 'fitter and stronger than ever' and says he will get the 'best possible care' as he steps up his return.
