Craig Doyle has heaped praise on Tynemouth as he and his This Morning colleagues discussed the shock return of Byker Grove on Tuesday, with Craig briefly pausing the discussion to single out the coastal town and it's gorgeous' beach.
A frontrunner in the eyes of many viewers to be Phillip Schofield's replacement, Craig was back at the helm of the daytime programme on Tuesday, once again beside Holly Willoughby, although the hosts were nowhere to be seen as proceedings kicked off with a cheerleading performance in honour of it being 4th July, American Independence Day.
When they did finally appear, Holly and Craig launched straight into a review of the day's big new stories, one of them being the announcement that Byker Grove is returning, with Ant and Dec breaking the news on Twitter a few hours earlier. Holly was quick to speculate if the return of the much loved CBBC show would mean a resurrection of PJ and Duncan and their music career.
But it was the location of the Tyneside based show that co-star Craig was quick to focus on, saying: "That show though, based in that part of the country...it's such a beautiful part of the world."
Later on in the show, Craig and Holly were joined by This Morning colleague Josie Gibson, who was on location at Gorleston-on-Sea what has been named in an international guide, as Britain's best beach. But championing Tynemouth, Craig added: "Talking about Britain's nicest beaches, Tynemouth has got the most gorgeous beach. Really, it's lovely," as Holly replied: "Oh, I've never been!"
